when removing my b18c from the car,the service manuels says to mark the distributors location and then to remove it.
Why do you need to remove the distributor from the cylinder head before removing the motor from the car ?
    2. how much does a b18c weigh,without tranny(
    ie. cylinder head,block.

There's no reason to remove the distributor when pulling the motor. The only possible reason that i can think of is that you can use the distributor mounting locations to pick up the motor more squarely.

Here's a link to see the entire process step-by-step:

The manual just likes making you do more work. You should be able to yank the motor out w/n 2 hours at the most. You can simplify your dismount if you disconnect the harness from the main plugs on your strut mount and lay the harness over the engine. Disconnect all the sensor plugs after the motor is out. But no you don't have to remove the distributor. As a matter of fact I take my engines out from the bottom.. only because I am too cheap to buy a engine hoist.
